Linda Wang

Linda Wang has been playing the violin for 14 years. She is a graduate of The Juilliard School Pre-College where she studied with Professor Masao Kawasaki. In 2018, Linda made her solo debut with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago as the winner of the DePaul Concerto Competition and international debut in Vienna, Austria as the winner of the Grand Prize Virtuoso International Music Competition. She has since won numerous competitions including the ENKOR International Music Competition, Chicago International Violin Competition, MTNA Illinois State & East Central Division Competitions, and Crain Maling CSO Young Artists Competition. Linda is also the first violinist and violist of the Infini String Quartet, which won Honorable Mention at the Discover National Chamber Music Competition and was featured on 98.7 WFMT’s Introductions in 2020. Linda will be attending Massachusetts Institute of Technology this fall.

Rosie Wang

Rosie Wang has been playing the flute for 8 years. She currently studies with Hideko Amano.  She most recently won 1st place at the 2019 Crain Maling Foundation CSO Young Artists Competition which will enable her to solo with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra at the Chicago Symphony Center in 2022. Having performed as a soloist with the Civic Orchestra of Chicago, the recording of her performance has been featured on 98.7 WFMT’s Introductions program. Rosie has also won awards at the Enkor International Music Competition, placed five times at the Chicago Flute Club Student competition, two times at the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, two times at the Society of American Musicians Competition, was a finalist in the 2019 CYSO Concerto Competition. She has been a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra’s top orchestra since ninth grade. She went on the 2019 Tour of the Baltics as the co-principal flutist of CYSO and played in concerts in Sweden, Estonia, Finland, and Russia. Outside of competing, Rosie has been directing a volunteering program at the Friendship Village Senior Center, where she organizes weekly instrumental music performances.

Anika Veda

Anika Veda has been playing the flute for 7 years as a student of Hideko Amano, and has been a fellow of the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative on scholarship since 2019. Anika recently performed at Carnegie Hall as a first-place winner of the 2019 American Protégé Music Talent Competition. She also performed with the Oistrakh Symphony of Chicago as a winner of the 2020 DePaul Concerto Competition and performed a recital as a part of the 2020 Young Steinway Concert Series. Anika was the winner of the 2020 CYSO Philharmonic Orchestra concerto competition and will be soloing with them next season. She has received awards at the 2019 Crain-Maling CSO Young Artists Competition, the 2019 CYSO Philharmonic Orchestra Concerto Competition, the 2019 Society of American Musicians Competition, and the 2017 Granquist Competition at the Olympic Division. Anika has been a member of CYSO’s Philharmonic Orchestra since 2018. Other than flute, Anika has been learning Carnatic Vocal (Indian Classical) Music for 11 years.

Adriana Koch

Adriana Koch has been playing the oboe for 5 years and is studying under Robert Morgan. She is a member of the Chicago Youth Symphony Orchestra and was recently affiliated with the Midwest Young Artists Conservatory. In 2018 and 2019, Adriana was selected to perform for the Illinois Music Educators Conference for District 7. Adriana was also named a 2019 fellow of the Chicago Musical Pathways Initiative, being granted a $7,000 fund from the Andrew Mellon Foundation. She has competed in the Presidents Own Marine Band Concerto Competition and Walgreens National Concerto Competition. She has successfully auditioned and will be attending the Interlochen Arts Camp in summer 2020. In her free time, Adriana enjoys volunteering at her local soup kitchen in the summer and giving musical performances at the Friendship Village Senior Center.

Melanie Wang

Melanie Wang is currently a sophomore at Duke University majoring in computer science and biology. She is the Project Manager of Marketing and head graphic designer at Duke Impact Investing Group and has been doing digital art and graphic design for 7 years. Melanie is also involved in research and has been accepted to various programs such as Bass Connections and Data+. She has interned in labs at Duke University, Northwestern University, and Case Western Reserve University. This summer, she will be in the process of publishing two papers in academic journals. Melanie is a National Merit Finalist scholarship recipient and a Presidential Scholar Semifinalist. In her free time, she enjoys writing poetry and playing the piano.
